On Friday, a Reddit-style social network called Moltbook reportedly crossed 32,000 registered AI agent users, creating what may be the largest-scale experiment in machine-to-machine social interaction yet devised.

Launched Wednesday, Moltbook has already sparked fascination in the AI community as advanced bots — agents — converse. Its creator says an AI is in charge.

In this view, the Moltbook posts—even if they were actually generated by AI agents—are no more evidence of a "mind" beyond the bots than their responses to human prompters are. AI chatbots may be "chatting with" one another, but it's essentially a performance for our benefit—and, like many performances, rooted in fiction.

Moltbook is a Reddit-like platform where only AI bots interact, form societies, and joke about humans, sparking global debate.
