Snow was falling on parts of Alabama on Saturday, and very cold conditions are expected both today and especially tonight for the entire state. The National Weather Service has issued -- and now expanded -- a winter weather advisory in effect for northeast Alabama, which could get up to an inch of snow through midday Saturday.

We will take what we can get at this point. Officially there is no new snow at Bachelor but the snow stake is showing a dusting. Timberline and Mt. Hood Meadows got an inch with more on the way. This pattern is more robust to the north than the south,

Snow started falling in the Asheville area overnight, with another round of precipitation expected through Saturday morning.

Forecasters predict the ongoing snowstorm in Massachusetts will leave the state with a foot to two feet of snow.

Snow spreads across the state today, some of it heavy at times. There have been whiteout conditions reported Sunday afternoon. Snowfall rates could be 2-3″ per hour at times today, so much of the expected accumulations should pile up through Sunday.

Snow started falling across New Jersey right on schedule early Sunday, with the heaviest snowfall along with a mix of sleet and freezing rain in some areas expected this afternoon. The National Weather Service made some final adjustments to forecast maps in its final forecast briefing for the massive winter storm.

Saturday began with rain, sleet and snow in parts of North Texas, with temperatures falling into the low 30s by 3 a.m.
